Five years ago three Filipinos dared to do what we all thought was impossible—to summit the highest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest. Coming from a tropical country and having been oriented to only two seasons, wet and dry, Filipinos to survive Everest and to summit, moreover, seemed nothing but a lost cause.

But these three—Leo Oracion, Pastor Emata and Romi Garduce—proved us all wrong when in 2006 they reached the peak of the elusive Mt. Everest. Their success is a testimony of the Filipinos’ bold hearts, unwavering faith, and commitment to defy their limits. This feat is not theirs alone, but the Filipino nation as a whole as we became one in aspiring to summit the world’s tallest.

This month we celebrate the Filipinos’ summit to Mt. Everest. May this serve as a reminder for us to continually aspire for greater heights both as individuals and as a nation.

EVENT TERMS:

• All participants should be18 years old and above and based in any location where there is a Cebu Pacific hub.
• We are looking for (1) male and (1) female independent travelers for KOTA KINABALU and (1) male and (1) female independent travelers for any local destination.
• We will only provide airline tickets. Pocket money and other expenses will be shouldered by the winning participants.
• The winning participant will document his story for publication.
• All winning participants will only be contacted by the official Dispatch Magazine team. You will be contacted via phone call and email. Tickets will be handed to you personally.
• Deadline of submission of entries is on May 18, 2011. Travel period is on any days between May 20-31, 2011.
• Three consolation prizes will be supplied by Eagle Creek.
